Devon and Somerset Estate Agents - Our initial ideas included burn victims, investigating buildings that have been destroyed by fire and fire as an emotion/element. Researching further we found that in America you can ask the fire department to burn down your house, it is then used for live fire training. The house must be assessed, if it is the correct candidate then any close neighbours must sign a form to agree to it. Donating your house to the fire department but keeping the land means you get a tax reduction on the price of the house and the land is still yours.

 

There are so many benefits to destroying your property this way: reduces landfill waste, saves money and live training for the fire department. We then got in contact with a fire officer who laughed when we asked if it was a thing in the uk, replying ‘definitely not’. This got us thinking that we should promote the process in the UK. We came up with the idea of creating an estate agents for the fire department. This would be a business that the fire department ran where they find appropriate candidates of properties to burn down and sell them to the public for people that want the land.
