The Omen - We began by watching The Omen and identifying scenes that we thought spoilt the movie or were significant in telling the story. We then focused on the plot of the devil child and predictions of Armageddon in the bible. From this we identified the scene we thought spoilt the movie the most which was where Father Brennan told Mr Thorn that his ‘son’ Damien was the ‘son of the devil’.

We focused on the scene of Father Brennan’s house where the walls and ceiling are covered in torn out bible pages, we looked in to bible page layout and design and used a photocopier to copy layered pages from sections of the bible creating an effect like a mass of falling pages.

We recreated a bible page to use the quote from the film and included the film name and release date on the page. We studied the bible pages and focused on recreating and understanding the page design so as to apply this design to our type which were lines taken from the film that identified Damien as the devil. The poem said by Father Brennan that explained how he had come to identify Damien as the Devi was also included on the page.

The film information such as directors and actor’s names, we placed at the bottom of the poster in a classical film poster style. Overall we wanted to create a subtle poster design that included our typography as if it was one of Father Brennan’s torn out bible pages just falling from his walls or ceiling.
