Submerge - The idea for this project came when looking through our images taken whilst in Amsterdam. We noticed that some of the buildings were slanted and wonky. When we returned home we researched into why this was happening and discovered that Amsterdam was in fact sinking. We wanted to use this research as the base for our publication however we found that when producing experiments we were being far too literal with it and our design needed to be more free and playful.

When we began to layer our experiments over one another we found that it destroyed the typography and images just like the architecture is being destroyed by the fact the city is sinking. Distortion of type and image was how we then decided to represent Amsterdam through our publication. Our choice of size was down to how it sinks 20cm a year which is why we decided to do the publication 20cm tall. We also wanted it to be tall and thin to represent the houses along the river edge.
