Animal Beneficiary Act - Initially we found out that 1,000,000 dogs were made heirs to their owners inheritance in the US. This made us curious to find out how exactly this worked. Often the money is used by a trustee in the dogs best interest, however often this power can be abused. In some cases dogs were murdered, kidnapped or replaced if they were deceased depending on which would benefit the trustee or other people. We found all these factors very interesting and were intrigued to find out the UK has very different rules and there is no legal inheritance system available for pets in the uk as they are deemed property.

We began to investigate and compare human rights against pet rights and decided we wanted to communicate how ridiculous the idea is by bringing the law to the UK, in our own version of a pet rights bill. To communicate our point that we could make the bill, ‘dog friendly’ we have made a bill that was stuffed and squeaky just like a dog toy.

 

Our opinion was that the content of bill was ridiculous consequently the bill itself should be ridiculous too. We then created our own Solicitors for dogs firm. To put the firm into context it was necessary to create a will based on the extravagance and anal precision of a real will we had got hold of. We refined the office to really show how by giving a dog such authority they are essentially equal to people. The dog received a dog-modified version of the bill, will, complimentary ‘sweet’, signature and even the chair it sat on.
